There are literally hundreds of different opportunities available. We won't kid you - it is a very competitive process and the academic level is high, but so are the rewards.

Regents’ Scholarship

The 2013-2014 Application deadline has passed. 

Approximately $15,296 per year

Renewable for 4 years

The tuition portion of this award is funded by the Legislative Lottery Scholarship

31 ACT (1380 SAT) and 3.9 Unit GPA

Freshmen Regents’ Scholars:

1. Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.3 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).
2. Live in the Scholars Wing in Hokona Hall.


Sophomore And Above:

Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.3 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).
 

This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.

National Scholars

Admitted to UNM by
February 1

Approximately $15,296 per year

Renewable for 4 years

The tuition portion of this award is funded by the Legislative Lottery Scholarship

National Merit Finalists receive an IPad

National Merit Finalist or National Hispanic Scholar or National Achievement or National American Indian Scholar may be eligible

UNM National Scholars:

Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.3 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).
 

This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.


National Merit Scholar Semi-finalist

Admitted to UNM by
February 1

Approximately $8,000 per year

Renewable for 4 years

The tuition portion of this award is funded by the Legislative Lottery Scholarship

National Merit Semi-finalist

Finalist Scholar may be eligible

UNM National Merit Semi-finalist Scholars Must:

 Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.3 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).

This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.

Presidential Scholarship

The 2013-2014 Application deadline has passed.

Approximately $7,607 per year

Renewable for 4 years

The tuition portion of this award is funded by the Legislative Lottery Scholarship

25 ACT (1140 SAT) and 3.75 Unit GPA and NM High School graduate or NM GED recipient

UNM Presidential Scholars:

1. Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).
2. Submit sponsor thank you letter by December 1st each year.

This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.

UNM Scholars

Approximately $5,950 per year

Renewable for 4 years

The tuition portion of this award is funded by the Legislative Lottery Scholarship

24 ACT (1110 SAT) and 3.3 Unit GPA and NM High School graduate or NM GED recipient

UNM  Scholars:

Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).


This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.

NM Scholars

No new funds are available for the 2013-2014 year currently.

Tuition, fees, and books per year

Renewable for 4 years

25 ACT (1140 SAT) or top 5% of graduating class and NM High School graduate or NM GED recipient

NM Scholars:

Must complete 12 new credit hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).

This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.

Bridge to Success

None

Approximately $1,000 for the first semester of the freshman year

“Bridge” to Lottery Scholarship

1 semester award.  Non-renewable

2.5 Unit GPA or 530 GED score and full-time enrollment at a public NM college or university

To Become Eligible for the Legislative Lottery:

1. Must complete a minimum of 12 new credit hours for the first semester following graduation from NM high school (must be a New Mexico resident, U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien.)
2. Must earn at least a 2.5 GPA at the end of the first semester.

Legislative Lottery

None

Full tuition per year

Renewable for 8 consecutive semesters

At least 12 credit hours and 2.5 Unit GPA during first college semester 1. Must earn 12 new credit hours each semester (repeated classes do not count toward credit hours earned).
2. Must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
3. If a student drops below the full-time (12 credit hours) status at any time throughout the semester, the scholarship will be canceled for that specific semester and the student will be responsible for all incurred charges.

23 ACT (1070 SAT) and 3.5 Unit GPA or 26 ACT (1190 SAT) and 3.0 Unit GPA

UNM Amigo Scholars:

Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).

This scholarship is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters) provided you maintain the requirements.

Colorado Reciprocal

For best consideration: Admitted to UNM by
February 1 for Fall Semester, October 1 for Spring Semester

Recipient pays New Mexico resident tuition rates (valued at approximately $14,815/year).

Renewable for 4 years

A limited number of tuition waivers are available. Recipients will be awarded through a selective process.

Colorado Reciprocal Recipients:

Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).

This tuition waiver is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters, 4 consecutive semesters for transfer) provided you maintain the requirements.

Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE)

Eligible candidates are residents of AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, ND, NV, SD, OR, UT, WA, WY; must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

For best consideration: Admitted to UNM by
February 1 for Fall Semester, October 1 for Spring Semester

Recipient pays 1.5 times New Mexico resident tuition rates (tuition waiver valued at approximately $11,765/year).

Renewable for 4 years

A limited number of tuition waivers are available. Recipients will be awarded through a selective process.

WUE Recipients:

Complete 15 new credit hours with a 3.0 GPA each semester (fall and spring semesters).

This tuition waiver is renewable for four years (8 consecutive semesters, 4 consecutive semesters for transfer) provided you maintain the requirements.
